The Beginning
Everything has to start somewhere so this is starting right here.
Piret Software Game Jam 16 Theme announcement... a bit of brainstorming and an idea forms.
The Theme: You are the weapon
My initial thoughts: This theme sucks, I think ill skip this jam. But I am a weapon, I can't skip this. I have to do it and I have to win... well maybe not the win part. I was mulling over ideas a bit while I did some house work. I was trying to keep in mind things that would require minimal effort since I have to work and take care of my house and kids. I have a game engine that I wrote a few years ago and have used it for a couple of game jams now so I wanted to do something that It could handle without the need for any big new features. I'm not sure if it was because I just finished making a card game or just random inspiration but either way that is where I landed.
Were were at and where we are headed.
I have put together a loose game design document. I have made a project on git hub and copied the engine files and game files from my last game. I have started editing the json file that defines the cards(but I'm still working out exactly what will be on the cards so this will all have to be redone). I have made a rough draft of the game design document on google docs and I have made lots of notes in my notebook.
So where are we headed.
In the game Wielded the player is a weapon being used by fighters. They must upgrade their attributes to maximize the damage of their wielder. If their wielder loses a fight they are picked up by the winner and move on to the next fight. If their wielder wins they can harvest their souls.
I have lots of work ahead deciding how I want stats from the cards to work, making art, and maybe even some music if I find some time in the next few weeks
Wielded
You are weapon forged in the heat of combat - Wielded by the bravest of wariors. A card game
